PROGRAM 3 – SRS20203 Certificate 11 in Sport (Career-oriented participation) CRICOS Course Code : 060686A Commencement dates – January and July each year Length of Course – This is a first rate entry level qualification to work in the golf industry, for example, at driving ranges, in golf retail and in supporting golf coaching classes. The Certificate 11 in Sport is delivered over a period of two x 20 week semesters. For international students, you will need a student visa (sub-class 572 - vocational education and training). The Golf School will issue your Confirmation of Enrolment after receipt of course fees. Award - graduating students receive · SRS20203 Certificate 11 in Sport (Career-oriented participation) if the student achieves a handicap of 12 (for males) or 18 (for females).· An Australian Golf Union handicap. Entry requirements - Students must have completed Year 10, or its equivalent and be 16 years of age or older. Students should have an English level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent, with no individual score lower than 4.5, or its equivalent. Please contact TGS if you need more information on what might be equivalent, for example, completing an English course, living in an English speaking country, etc. Cost: AU$36000 one year programThis program is for persons who want a qualification in the golf industry that improves their golf skills, coaching skills and general golf industry knowledge. Golf training is provided by PGA professional coaches at TGS's teaching facility at the West Burleigh Driving Range. As part of the program, students play at a number of different local courses and enjoy the great golf conditions of the Gold Coast.The weekly program includes: · Driving range lessons· Unlimited range usage 7 days per week, 8am to 7pm · Maximum class size of six students to one coach · Access to golf course daily · Complete equipment assessment involving launch, lie, loft, flex, swing speed, shaft and head · Computer swing analysis · Classroom instruction · Physical training program · Golf Club membership, including maintenance of handicap · Regular golf competitions plus transport to the golf course and return to the driving range Recognition of Prior Learning is available to provide credit for existing skills and knowledge. This is undertaken on arrival at TGS, following an application by the student. Note that RPL may impact on the duration of a student’s visa. Formal Training includes classroom, on course supervision and individual and group training at the range. Assessment - Competency is assessed through regular assignments, observation-demonstration checklists, completion of National Skills Tests and examinations. Assessment support tutorials are provided to ensure students manage their assessment tasks. Students receive regular feedback on their academic progression. Teaching methods - Each student will have a weekly face-to-face training schedule, comprising practice times, roundings and classroom study sessions, and assignments to be completed by the student.
